Bratwurst/ Lager onions and sauerkraut

Introduction
Travel to Germany with never having to leave your kitchen.

Steps
Heat the cooking oil in a skillet over medium-high heat until oil is wavey.
Place the bratwurst into the skillet and sear on all sides for 2-3 minutes or until golden brown
Remove bratwurst and add onions and butter to the pan
Turn heat down to medium setting.
Cook onions until brown and soft.
Add picked thyme and salt and pepper to taste.
Add the water or beer do the onions in the skillet
Place bratwurst back into the pan with the onions and liquid.
Cover with lid and steam for 3-5 minutes or internal tempuratue hits 165 F
When done, the liquid should have reduced by half.
Toast the roll and smear with stone ground mustard.
Place onions on the bun with the bratwurst and top with sauerkraut
Tips
Substatute the beer with water if no alchohal is desired.
Ingredients
1.5 Tbsp cooking oil
5 Each Bratwurst {raw, in casing}
1 Large yellow onion
2 Tbsp Butter
5 Sprigs fresh thyme (picked)
1 Cup Lager beer or water
1 Cup Sauerkraut
4 hard sausage rolls
Salt and pepper to taste
